“We are like common clay jars that carry this glorious treasure within, so that this immeasurable power will be seen as God’s, not ours.” 2 Corinthians 4:7 TPT
When I was a pastor sometimes a brother or sister would share something that they learned. They expressed it like it was original, fresh revelation that could be valuable to me or the fellowship. Their revelation was nearly word for word what I had taught in their presence some time back. At first I was put off, not receiving “credit” . Then my gracious Lord gently corrected my sneaky pride and then congratulated me. Did it originate with me so that I could copyright it? Did I not receive it myself? No one preaches original sermons. They all come from somewhere. That is what we want! It took root. That is a sign of success!
They got the treasure and left the earthen vessel that delivered it behind! They digested it and now it is a part of them!
Do we want parrots that imitate but have no conception of what they are saying? Or rather, possessors of truth that is engrafted into their heart and has so enlightened them that they can share it as their own! God gets the glory, I don’t need or want it!
