Being fed?
I was on a 747 on my way to India from New York with fellow crusade workers. The meals were delicious….at first. It seems that after we ate and the stewards collected the dishes not very much time past until a new meal was being served. After a while the food didn’t have much appeal. We were trying to give each other food, loathe to waste. We knew the food was good but we had no use for it. The food was good, the bodies were sedentary, 14 hour flight. If I had just harvested wheat or fought in a land battle I would have eaten everything with gusto.
“I’m not being fed!”
In my years as a pastor I heard this line more than any other as a reason for leaving one fellowship and joining another. I heard it as a reason when people were leaving my church and heard it in past tense when people joined my church.
I’ve noticed that new Christians and Christians very active in the harvest seem to enjoy the messages more. When I was first saved I would rant about how great the sermon was while some of the others looked at me like I was going on about eating a bug. New love soaks in revelation like the life giver it is. Soldiers and farm workers waft down the grub. Lazy, fat gourmets will find something wrong with the presentation and move on to a better “restaurant”.
Perhaps it isn’t the food that is the problem, perhaps you need to get off your backside and get busy, in the fellowship and in the field. In heaven we receive total revelation. Here we need what we need to do His will, not to fancy ourselves “deep”.
Eat, work.
I know, not of works. Works not important?
Read Revelation 2 and 3 then get back to me.
